How can we help you?

Backhoe

Because backhoes have an excavator arm and a loading bucket, they offer a more versatile set up than most other heavy equipment. For people who don’t want to rent two different heavy duty machines but still need the functionality of an excavator and a loader, we recommend backhoes.

Crawler carrier and dump truck

If ground damage is a concern, we recommend rubber tracks instead of steel tracks. All of our mini excavators are on rubber tracks, and we have a large variety of compact track loaders. These machines are lightweight enough to minimize ground damage while you complete your landscaping and earthmoving projects. If operated correctly, you should not see much, if any, site damage.

Damage, repair, and maintenance

All the tires on our wheeled machines are manufactured to the highest standards of performance, reliable in all weather conditions, and durable on the most rugged job sites. You should never have to worry about a blown tire. In the very rare case where it happens, just call us and we’ll send someone out to repair or replace the tire.

All our machines go through a thorough mechanical inspection before we ship them to your job site, so maintenance should never be a problem during your rental. In the rare circumstance where you do need maintenance, just call us and we’ll send someone out to repair or replace the machine.

If you happen to damage any of the equipment, it’s important that you take pictures of the damages right away. If the damages seem extreme or prevent the machinery from functioning normally, avoid further use. Above everything else, your safety is a top priority. Then report the damages by contacting our administors. At Rent1, we appreciate your honesty. If you preemptively report damages that require repairs, we’ll waive off the rental fee for any additional days needed while the equipment is being repaired. For more details, check out our video tutorial on how to report damages.

The tipping load is the point at which the equipment (usually an excavator) begins to tip off the ground when lifting a load. On most excavators, the tipping load is 50% of the operating capacity (or 25% of the operating capacity with the boom at max height). How high the bucket is raised changes how heavy of a load the machine can lift. Make sure you check out the specs section of each equipment rental to find machine lifting capacities.

Demolition projects need high-powered machines. For small demolition projects such as garages or tool sheds, we recommend renting at least a 6-tonne excavator like the John Deere 60G. If you have a large-scale demolition project such a house or apartment, you’ll need a 20-tonne excavator or better, such as the Komatsu PC200 LC-8.

General FAQ

Our most popular rental equipment is a tie between the John Deere 60G mini excavator and the Kubota SVL75 compact track loader. Both machines are mid-sized, on rubber tracks, and provide the versatility that contractors and operators need to get a variety of construction, landscaping, and even home and garden jobs done.

We’ve partnered up with a Texas-based marketing firm www.dripmarketing.co — check them out.

Our rental yard is located in San Antonio, Texas, and our working hours are from 9:00am–6:00pm pacific standard time. Our head office is located in Dallas.

Operator

Our heavy equipment operators are trained to complete a wide variety of tasks using any of our heavy equipment rentals; landscaping, excavating, demolition, lawn and garden projects, digging, hauling, driving, and more. If you give us your project details, we will make sure that our operator is up to the task before confirming it with you.

Maximum operating hours are negotiable, however, we adhere to local government policies and restrictions when it comes to maximum work hours (our operators are humans and need time to rest). Our customers must be aware that any days that exceed 8 hours are charged at time and a half.

We charge a minimum of eight hours on all operating jobs.

Payment and insurance

Pre-authorizations are our way of replacing the long and cumbersome process of having customers fill in credit applications. We pre-authorize any equipment rental for the total cost of the rental, plus an amount to cover any unexpected damages or additional days required.

Credit card is the most commonly accepted form of payment, as we require pre-authorization on every rental before it is sent out to your site. In some rare cases, we will also accept cheques or e-transfers, but this has to be negotiated with your rental agent, and a pre-authorization must still be approved.

It is only ok to take a wheeled skid steer on a residential road or highway if you have the proper insurance to do so. Get a hold of your insurance provider and let them know you need to drive your heavy equipment on the roads, and they will be able to provide you with the correct insurance policy to do so.

Heavy equipment insurance is required on all rental products, no matter where they come from. Get a hold of your insurance provider and let them know you need heavy equipment insurance, which is sometimes called contractor equipment insurance, or fleet-truck insurance. Tell them that what heavy duty equipment you are renting and let them know how long you’re renting it for. They will likely be able to create a policy for you right away, or they can usually recommend a heavy equipment insurance provider in your area.

Receiving and ending equipment rental

Yes, all rental durations are estimations and you must call or email us to let us know when you are finished with your heavy equipment rental. If you exceed the estimated rental duration and do not call us to let us know that you are finished with the machine, you will be charged for all additional days that the machine was on your site.

It’s very simple. As soon as you’re done with your rental equipment, call or text one of our administrators to close your rental period. Make sure that you’ve refilled the fuel gauge to the same amount it was at prior to your usage, and that the machine is clean and free from any compiled residue from your previous job. Lastly, take the same pictures as you did before your rental and send them over to us to confirm that everything is in the same condition. Then, just leave the keys out of sight or under the mat so that one of our staff members can pick up the heavy equipment.

As soon as your rental is delivered, we recommend taking photos of the exterior and cab for your records. Check out our tutorial video on how to take these photos before you start operating your equipment. Then, go ahead and use the rental.

It depends on where your job site is. In most cases, we can deliver any heavy duty machine throughout Texas on the same day or next day. If your project site happens to be further into the interior of BC, or on one of the islands near Texas, we can provide you with an estimate for when your delivery should arrive.

Shipping container

Our shipping containers will accept any kind of padlock. We recommend using a high-quality lock to make sure that your items are secured.

Skid steer and compact track loader

Ask yourself, “What kind of surface will I be operating on?” If you’re using this equipment on soft ground or loose gravel, or if you’re operating on dirt in a season when it rains a lot, then tracks will provide the grip needed to complete your job and avoid getting stuck. If your job is on hard ground such as pavement, then you can take advantage of the increased speed of wheeled equipment.

Track loaders (and compact track loaders) operate on tracks instead of wheels. This provides better grip for soft ground surfaces like mud and gravel, prevents the machine from getting stuck, and minimizes ground pressure to reduce site damage.

The main difference between a skid steer and a track loader is that skid steers operate on wheels instead of tracks. Skid steers can usually move much faster and provide better mobility for moving around construction sites or driving on roads.

Teleloader/Telehandler

The two main reasons for renting a teleloader or telehandler instead of an excavator is the mobility and the size. Telehandlers can fit into much smaller spaces than most excavators, because they are generally shorter and slimmer. They are also much faster than most excavators, making handling materials and travelling around a site, such as an agricultural farm or a construction site, much more efficient.

Timing and duration of rental period

It is usually no problem if you continue to use your rental for longer than you anticipated, as we will only come to pick up the rental equipment when you call or email to let us know that are finished with the rental. If your rental equipment is long overdue, our team may follow up with you to check in and make sure you are still in need of the equipment.

Yes, you do get charged for the weekend, the machine is on rent until it is returned or called off. That being said, our one-week rental is a seven day period, and usually is the same price as 3-4 individual days at the daily rate. Often times, it’s cheaper to keep the machine at the full week rate instead of being charged the daily rate and doubling the delivery and pickup charges.

If you exceed the rental durations per day, then you will be charged for all additional time that was used on the machine. However, if you rent a machine for a week you can use the 40 hours up anytime within that period, and you will only be charged for additional days if you exceed 40 hours.

Our machine rental rates operate on an eight-hour workday. So eight hours per day, 40 hours per week, and 160 hours per month. All machines come with a digital display that shows how many hours have been used on the machine. Make sure you record the hours when you receive the machine and record them again when you have finished your project.

UTV & UTX

Yes, we frequently rent out UTVs and UTXs for city events, sporting events, and more. Contact us to ask about getting a utility vehicle to help out at your event.

Absolutely. If you’re going off-roading or camping up forestry roads, UTVs make getting around a breeze — and they’re fun for the whole family!

Wheel loader

Most wheel loaders are heavy duty machines, and will only avoid ground damage on hard surfaces such as dry dirt and pavement. It is not recommended for soft surfaces or wet grass. If you need to completely minimize ground damage, consider renting a track loader instead.
